Getting To School
Arrival and Dismissal
ARRIVAL
All entrances will be open from 7:20 AM to 7:30 AM. This year, we are welcoming families back into the building! You are invited to walk your children to their classroom door. Learning begins promptly at 7:30 each morning, so thank you for honoring that time by exiting the building when our learning song is played each day. At that time, all doors will be secured for safety reasons.
Please utilize the neighborhoods for parking as illustrated on our Arrival Map. Parking can be found along 19th and 20th streets, going with the flow of traffic.
Be respectful in following the “No Parking” signs in the neighborhood. Please do not block driveways.
dismissal
Children are dismissed through assigned doors based on the grade level/room location. Families are encouraged to greet their child(ren) outside the assigned doors. All children must be picked up by 2:50pm. Children present after 2:50pm will be brought inside to call parents/guardians/emergency contacts/campus security.
Crosswalk Pick-up
For our families who use our crosswalk pick-up, we ask that you have your child’s dismissal number clearly visible and remain at the east side of Cincinnati. For safety, we must have the sidewalk clear on the school side and a clear line of sight. It becomes very difficult when there is congestion on the sidewalk with extra people. Please honor “No Parking” signs in neighborhood and do not block driveways. It creates a huge issue for our Maple Ridge community.
Car Rider Pick-up
If your child is a car rider, please place dismissal number where it is clearly visible to the adults on the sidewalk. They will call your child(ren) and they will dismiss to your car.
PRO TIPS:
- Pull vehicle completely to the curb and stay in your car.
- PK-2nd Grades will dismiss north of the 20th St. crosswalk, 3rd-5th Grades will dismiss south of the crosswalk. Plan accordingly when getting into car line to expedite your pick-up.
- If picking up a sibling group, older siblings will be released to the youngest sibling’s pick up area. See map for designated doors.
dismissal doors
Parents/Guardians are invited to pick up their children at the end of each school day in the following locations:
Pre-K: Gym doors
K-2nd: 19th Street doors (2nd from breezeway doors if raining)
3rd: Main doors (gym doors if raining)
4th-5th: Main door and/or 21st Street doors, depending on location of last class (gym doors if raining)
Biking to school
Bicycles must be walked on school grounds. Parking space is provided for bicycles at school. Students riding bicycles should follow safety rules while riding to and from school. When at school, bicycles are not to be ridden on the sidewalks. Locks should be on the bicycles when parked. All bicycles are to be parked at the bicycle rack during the school day. Scooters, skateboards, skates, and skate shoes (Heelies - even with the wheels removed) are not allowed at school.
Attendance
It is very important that your child has regular attendance in order to have continuous educational progress. If your child is absent, absences must have a written or verbal explanation provided by the parent/guardian within 48 hours of the child's return to school. An absence for which no acceptable explanation is received shall be unexcused.
children must be in attendance a minimum of 90%
In order to be unconditionally recommended for promotion to the next grade, children must be in attendance a minimum of 90% of the instructional time scheduled for that school/grade. All absences, excused and unexcused, shall be included in the calculation of the 90% attendance minimum. The Principal shall review all students' attendance records reflecting absenteeism and will make a determination regarding recommendation for retention. Parents/Guardians will be notified, in writing, of any recommendation for retention due to absenteeism. Ten consecutive missed days will result in your child being unenrolled from school.
tardies
When a child arrives after 7:30am, they are tardy. A tardy between 7:30 and 7:45am will be recorded by the classroom teacher. Children who arrive later that 7:45am must check in at the office for a tardy pass. Excessive tardiness will be reported to TPS Enrollment Center.
make up work
A student absent fewer than two days will receive all make-up work upon his/her return to school. You may call the office to request homework if your student is absent more than two days. Students have the same number of days to turn in missed work as they were absent.
